Evaluation of Antimicrobial Activity of a Pyrimidine Derivative Against <i>Staphylococcus Aureus</i>

The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro and vivo antimicrobial activity a new pyrimidine derivative against Staphylococcus aureus . assessment compound 3 3-(2-Phenyl-2- oxoethyl)quinazoline-4(3H)-one performed using test culture S. strain isolated from patients’ sputum by serial dilutions meat-peptone broth, followed formation sequences with concentration 128 mcg/ml; 64 32 16 8 4 2 1 mcg/ml. During study, minimum inhibitory 3-(2-Phenyl-2-oxoethyl)quinazoline-4(3H)-one determined. under examination studied model generalized staphylococcal infection. infectious process modeled via intraperitoneal administration at dose ×10 microbial bodies 7-week-old mice. All laboratory mice were divided into groups: control I — animals receiving an equivalent volume water for injection; II infected ; comparison group treated drug ceftriaxone 50 mg/kg; experimental – 1/10 molecular weight 26 mg/ kg, 7 days starting day survival rate during experiment evaluated. At end experiment, blood, spleen, liver, lung contamination indices calculated. established antibacterial conditions : showed bacteriostatic dilution mcg/kg bactericidal mcg/kg. results that contributes animals, as well decrease index bacterial internal organs blood infection, which indicates ability form immunity.
